Martyn Bal Autumn/Winter 2010

With his recent appointment as Design Director for Gianni Versace Menswear (he just completed his first collection at the company), it’s fair to say that Martyn Bal has gone from strength to strength in the last few years. The collection’s strength has always been their outerwear and, as you can see from the pictures above, that’s set to continue with this collection. The press release states that the campaign images showcase ‘the duality of the Martyn Bal man’ – they also show any girlfriends that this collection is the perfect pretend gift for your other half.

Leitmotiv for Furla Talent Hub Collection

Let’s hope the other exciting developments to come surrounding this September’s shopping extravaganza, Fashion’s Night Out, is a lot more riveting. Furla plans to launch its new “Leitmovitv for Furla Talent Hub” collection on September 10. The fairy-tale inspired collection is not the brand’s first foray into this magical world; the label last year introduced pieces with a “Alice in Wonderland” theme, creating several printed images depicting Dorothy clearly donning her staple red shoes, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Wizard surrounded by oversize colorful flower patterns.

Louis Vuitton Neo-Speedy PM

Check out the bag Marc Jacobs gave his VIP guests and top editors as their gift for the season. Don’t you love? Each season, Marc sends a handful of very, very lucky ladies a bag that encapsulates the runway show they are about to sit front row at. This particular bag, the Neo-Speedy PM, is similar to its sister bag, the Carrousel, but in a simpler way. I love that the bag can be worn casually (see Alexa Chung) but also look terrific with a Chanel or Balenciaga suit. The calf leather is sumptuous–reminiscent of the Suhali leather–and it has a bit of a slouchy shape, although at its heart it’s structured. Needless to say, it’s plenty roomy and the top opens wide so you can easily find your belongings (the top zip for security reasons is much welcomed). Granted, I think it’s overpriced and coupled with the special order disclaimer, this bag isn’t for everyone.

$4,340, available by special order only

Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2011

Here is a look at the Spring/Summer 2011 ready to wear collection from Italy’s Bottega Venata. “The collection is breezy but focused, balanced between the technical rigor of athletic apparel and the refined technique of classically tailored men’s wear. ’The collection is about performance and possibility,’ says Creative Director Tomas Maier. ‘It’s about what happens when you combine materials and techniques in new ways. We started from tailoring, because that is what defines a silhouette.’ ”
