How to Shop the Fashion Sales
Posted by Spaidy in Fashion Stylist on January 4, 2012
The festive season is officially over and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to hit the January sales in search of a bargain (or five!). Shopping the sales can be stressful and fraught with pitfalls so, to avoid overpaying for an item or going home with bags of things you neither want or need, take a look at these top tips on surviving the sales.
Look online
Avoid the madness of the high street altogether and do your sales shopping online. Instead of dashing from one shop to another in search of the same product cheaper, you can compare items with ease so you’re more likely to save money. Whether you’re looking for discounted plus size clothes or computer games, you’ll find a huge selection on the internet and what’s more, you can do all your shopping from the comfort of your own home.
Make a list
Before you start spending, make a list of the things you want to buy and stick to it. It might even be worth taking a walk around your home or looking in the wardrobe and deciding what’s missing so avoid coming home with unnecessary items. It can be all too tempting to buy things in the sale just for the sake of it, but if you won’t use that egg peeler or wear those seven inch heels, they’re just a waste of money.
Get your timing right
Arriving at your favourite shop early or being online as soon as their sale starts allows you to get the best pick of what’s on offer and you’re likely to avoid the bigger crowds. Some stores are particularly popular and you may find you have to queue to get for the privilege. Alternatively, hit the sales towards the end of the discount period. Whilst this could potentially leave you disappointed, but retailers tend to knock even more off the price to get rid of old stock.
Think ahead
It’s never too early to prepare for next Christmas or upcoming birthdays. You could save bags of cash throughout the year by making all your present purchases in the January sales and save yourself the stress of last minute gift buying. It’s also the perfect time for updating your Christmas decorations. Which see huge discounts at this time of year? It might pain you to think of Christmas’s to come when one has just finished, but you’ll be thankful at the end of the year!
Problems with Counterfeit ghd stylers
Posted by Spaidy in Fashion Stylist on February 28, 2011
ghd is a premier manufacturer of hair straighteners and products. Their styler is probably the most popular brand across the globe. Unfortunately, riding on the success of this product are dishonest companies who have created counterfeit stylers which pose as being the ghd brand. However, these straighteners of course are not the real thing. Many consumers are attracted to these shoddy products mainly through the lure of a cheap price tag. However, what these consumers are finding is a time bomb waiting to cause problems. After all, these fake stylers have been created with substandard materials and will never be as good as the real deal.
One of the common complaints regarding fake ghd stylers is the risk of fire. Fires are commonplace with these models since they easily overheat and then burst into flames. This can be a potential hazard as well if you happen to be using the product when the fire starts. Some women have had burns to their face as well as the singeing of their luscious locks. While many are attracted to the low price of phony ghd stylers, the possible risks do not outweigh the benefit of the lower price.
Another problem that many face when buying a fake ghd styler is melting. Again, the device becomes too hot and the cheap plastic used to make the iron plates can quickly melt. This can cause burning as well as mess and damage to your home.
Consumers who purchase a fake ghd styler also find that the item they purchase simply doesn’t last very long. Often, these inferior stylers break quickly or simply quit turning on. Therefore, the savings that consumers think they had from buying the cheaper model is anything but, since they are left out of pocket and without a warrantee to replace their straighteners.
With so many reasons to avoid fake ghd straighteners, many consumers wonder how they can determine if their ghd styler is authentic. There is a helpful website called http://bewareoffakes.ghdhair.com/. Here they provide numerous tools to help consumers seek out genuine ghd stylers. One unique tool is their serial number checker. Here you can input the serial number on the styler and the site will check to make sure it is an actual ghd product. With this site, consumers should be reassured that they can find an authentic styler, avoiding the horrific results experienced by those who have purchased fake models.
Valentine’s Day with VS lingerie
Posted by Spaidy in Clothes, Fashion Stylist, Lifestyle on February 12, 2011
For those of us who aren’t all that romantically inclined – or not in the snuggly teddy bears and sappy pet names kind of way, anyway – an occasion like Valentine’s Day does offer up at least one brilliant thing: the excuse to go out and buy some new lingerie, perhaps that’s a little more decadent or sensual than usual. Perusing through the Victoria’s Secret Manhattan flagship yesterday it was the current Valentine’s Day range that seemed to leap off the shelves – in both its eye-catching quality, and resulting sales. While the Valentine’s Day look books can at times come off a little tacky, the collection when viewed in person is better than Tania Braukamper expected and well worth using the Valentine’s Day excuse on.

Decades Denim Lookbook and More

Cameron Silver, the retail genius behind haute-vintage store Decades and haute-consignment shop Decades 2, has presented his adoring public with an affordable new line of denim.
The Decades Denim collection has evolved greatly in the new Holiday 2010 and Spring 2011 from a few basic denim pieces to nearly a full-fledged collection. A bit of vintage inspiration was drawn from the denim-crazed seventies. The influence is subtle in both collections.
